normal poop behavior or possibly sick?

geckoGirlsMom Sep 15, 2003 11:45 AM

My daughter's leo (we've had for 5 weeks now) has taken to pooping only about every 48 hours, instead of about every 24 hours like she was initially and this has me worried. Her poops seem a lot smaller than those of geckos at the pet store which are about her size. She's about 5 inches I think (not counting her tail.) She seems otherwise really healthy, eats daily about 5 crix and a few mealworms... getting chubbier in body and tail by the day. Her poops are part white chalky stuff and part, well, poop. That's normal right? The poop part seems to be getting smaller though. She is on paper towels now, but she was on sand before. The person from whom we got her had her on sand and she was so loving digging in it, we left her on it for a bit. But I began to be worried about impaction so I got rid of the sand. I'm worried she might have some kind of impaction problem that is making her constipated - doing smaller doos with more time in between. Also, when she goes, a fair amount of liquid comes out along with the poop. Is this normal? Well, this is an awfully pleasant topic. Hopefully nobody is eating while reading.
Any suggestions?

Sounds normal to me. My guess is that she's just been eating less than before.

Thanks.
Well, her diet's pretty steady. But maybe she's just absorbing more. She is getting nice and chubby in the tummy and the tail.
