Anyone use roaches for feeders?

eppon Sep 15, 2003 12:23 PM

I bought 30 orange headed roaches from Mulberry Farms to start a colony. I was wondering if anyone who uses them as feeders know approximately how many adults I will need to keep to have a decent colony for feeding one dragon (approximately 18 weeks old, but eats every meal likes it's his last! lol). I'm guessing I'll only need to keep around 10-15 females (though I know that orange headed are really hard to sex).

This is the first thing I've ever tried to breed so I'm a little nervous! lol.

females have 20-30 babies at a time 2-3 times a year. they live 3-4 years and are able to breed after they are one year old.
once your dragon is no longer a baby it will be eating juvie roaches about 4-6 months old. I feed one or two a week to my dragons. you need to crunch your own numbers depending on how often you plan on feeding.

good luck
