What kind of snake is this?

This is the first time I saw a snake with this pattern by my house. I live upstate NY. I found him on my gravel driveway hiding under a empty plant pot. He's thin and about 12" long.

No cornsnakes in New York, definitely an eastern milksnake even if corns were local.
