mystery morph

suicideicon Jul 20, 2009 04:12 PM

The other day I was in a certain pet chain that I wont mention here, lets just say I really don't think these guys have any idea what they are doing. more than a few times I have seen various morph snakes being sold as regulars. Anyways it was one of those days, there was a ball python curled up in the back of the tank that looked a little different than the rest. my wife and I have a guess what kind it is but cant say for sure, so heres some pictures , head, tail, belly, and one with him next to our first ball...

any feedback i can get for this would be great, ty

Scott

A nice banded pattern.. that's why it looked a little "different" Could be genetic or not... won't know till you breed it. I think the banded normals look stunning usually...they just have this clean look to them compared to other normals.

I'll have to do some research on breeding, have plenty of time though, its still a tiny little guy/girl

Here is the thing with Balls: There is a large range of color and patterns in normal Ball Pythons. Back in the day, there was a chance you would find something genetic in a pet store if you looked hard enough. Nowadays, not so much. Everything gets picked through for the most part, before you see it, and usually by more than one person. If you want something a bit odd, for decent prices, check out David Fernandez. He advertises here, and has some really nice dinker animals for more than fair prices.

Remember, every purchase you make from a big retail giant tells them you do not care about quality, just cheap prices. Buy from breeders, local guys, or the good guys on the net. In all honesty, I give away normal and some poss het males to some of the locals. I am sure you can pick up male snakes for cheap or free around where you live too.
