Bloody Ghost Litter? - 1 Year Update

serpsel Jul 20, 2009 10:37 PM

Back in late June of 2008, I produced a very interesting litter consisting of 5 Normals, 3 Salmons, an Anery, A Ghost, a Blood Boa, a Bloody Salmon, and a Pewter. After posting some pictures, exchanging ideas with some people, and absorbing some of the comments made, I realized that the Pewter produced in this litter was probably a Bloody Ghost(a Hypo, an Anery, and a Blood Boa) as it looked like no Pewters that I could find pictures of anywhere. So here, over a year later, are some updated pics that I thought I would share.

Here is the Bloody Ghost(unproven).

It is in every pic except the last three. I suspect the salmon gene is not making it look like a regular Pewter.

No, it is a Pewter that is suspected to be a Bloody Ghost. I can't call it a Bloody Ghost for certain until it is proven out one way or the other.

Hey, Alex, I heard I missed you at the store the other day and missed out on some amazing snakes too. Those Bloody Salmons of yours are supposed to be some of the reddest snakes out there, congrats. Could you post some pictures of the tail saddles of the poss Plasma (Hypo Pewter). I would like to see if there is any transition in the tail saddles around the vent area. Any idea when you'll be able to prove it out?

BTW, any pics of my girl? You know which one I'm talking about.

Amazing year you've had again.

Thanks for the comps. One of my Bloody Salmon litters this year came out very red and produced a very red probable Super Bloody Salmon that I think is gonna stay with me awhile!! The other Bloody Salmon litter was very colorful in the orange end of the spectrum.

As far as "your girl" goes, if it was a snake it would have bit you!!LOL She is the light colored one in the pics above. She has changed quite a bit since she was first born.

I'll try and post some more pics of the Bloody Ghost aka Hypo Pewter. I am probably a year away at the earliest to prove it out.

I thought that was her, I recognized the tail but didnt want to sound like an idiot (which I usually do regardless what I say). She looks even better now, smokin. So what did you breed this year and what proved out?

serpsel Jul 21, 2009 04:40 PM

I struck out on any Bloody Ghosts this year cause I used the parents from last years litter to prove out 1.1 66% Het Bloods which turned out to be Het Bloods only and not Double Het Bloody Ghosts.

I think I may be confused. Could you guys help me a little? A pewter is an anery blood correct? A plasma is a ghost blood correct? Thanks. I dont want to label anything incorrectly. Thanks. Mike

A Pewter is both a Blood and an Anery. A Bloody Ghost is a Pewter and a Salmon/Hypo. So the Bloody Ghost is in fact a Blood Boa, an Anery, and a Salmon/Hypo. The confusion comes in with the designer labels such as Plasma Ghost and Hemogoblin, they are just cool names that people come up with to describe the same or similar things. The Hemogoblin was made with the Salmon line and the Plasma Ghost was made with the Hypo gene. Look at it this way, a Sunglow is to a Hypo Albino what a Hemogoblin or Plasma Ghost is to a Salmon/Hypo Anery Blood Boa. And now we are ready to take the SAT!!LOL Hope that helps clear up any confusion.
