Central Valley Ca. anyone?

drasticplastic Jul 21, 2009 12:37 AM

I'm going to be moving to Tracy, Ca. in about a month and can't seem to find any reptile shops or supply places out there. Can anyone point me in the right direction if you know of anything like that out that way? I appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

Darren.

Hey Darren,

Of course there is the Serpentarium in Lodi, not exactly in your backyard but close enough for the occasional trip. Beyond that there used to be a pet store downtown-ish, have not been there is several years so don't know if they are still there.

Thanks Dave, I'll check them out. Not too familiar with that area just yet so I'll have to keep my eyes open.

Not from that area, but do you have to move to Tracy? If you drive 8 mph through the town, you'll still miss everything if you blink. There's nothing there.

Well we don't HAVE to, but when we just BOUGHT a 4 bedroom, 2 1/2 bathroom, 1629 square foot, 2 story house with a pool for the same monthly price as our two bedroom apartment we have now....there isn't much to think about. haha. Thanks for your concern though, I'm sure I'll have plenty of days where I'm bored out of my mind.

Hi Darren!

When I first moved back to the Bay Area I stayed in Livermore for about a year and honestly, there isn't much of anything herp-related in the tri-valley area. Closest store is probably going to be the one right near where I live now, the Reptile Room in Hayward, but I would still recommend driving the extra distance to the East Bay Viv in Berkeley. Of course depending on traffic, that's going to be a 1-2hr drive from Tracy.

I also get my feeders from Taylor Reptile although I'm probably going to start buying from someone closer. Taylor does make weekly deliveries to Livermore and their feeder pricing and quality is good.

Huge congrats on getting a house!! I wish I could buy. Are you buying in actual Tracy or in the Mountain House area?
Take care,
-April

I'll be commuting back to Union City for a while for work so I think the Reptile Room and EBV are still going to be my number one places for the time being. We're actually in Tracy off S. MacArther Drive. One side of the track is houses, the other side is absolutely nothing. hah. Should be a fun time! Maybe now my wife will let me buy a pair of quads for me and my son.

Although I'm in the bay (Freakmont), I go to Tracey quite a bit because there's a Sonic there. It's one of THREE in the greater bay area. The other two are in Gilroy and the newest one is in Napa.

If you like Quad'n, I suggest checking out Bass Pro Shop in Stocken. It opened up almost a year ago, and it's like, "Welcome to Jurassic Park!". Seriously, the vestibule is the grandest I've ever seen, you walk through a fake Sequoia tree, plus they have Sangria jam- yum!

Great Valley Serpentarium is now under new ownership (the guy who owns [bleep] now owns it, and it just expanded too. I haven't checked out the "new" shop yet. Highly suggest visiting East Bay Vivarium in Berkeley.
