First ever clutch...and it's a doozy!

Thomas S. Jul 21, 2009 03:29 PM

Well I finally got my first ever clutch! And it was a lot more than I expected! It's just a normal female to a pastel male but man I couldn't be more excited! The female is an '01 that was originally sold to me as a male, lol. 11 huge eggs! I don't know where she put them all!

She wasn't very happy to see me! But she never struck or tried to bite.

Huge eggs omg.

Just a suggestion, I'd get some hatchrite in the incubator. Several online places sell it (RBI, LLL I believe). Looks like you're using a hovabator, they don't hold humdity great. One or two bags of hatchrite should fill the it well and hopefully keep it humid enough. Congrats, exciting stuff 11 eggs!

Thanks for the advice! Now do you put the eggs right on the hatchrite?

I use pearlite but hatch right is awesome and yes put them in the hatch right carefully and remember not to roll them. I would put one of those ziplock sandwich containers in the hovabator open half full of water your looking for 100% humidity and 89 for temps is what I have used for 100% hatch rate so far! Hope some of this helps you on that road to your 7 pastels and your first christmas in september!!! Its a great feeling the first time you open that incubator and see little noses poking out!!!

Congrats on your first clutch of great looking eggs.
