uhhh. are they serious? Gotta love snake lies
If it's on Fox news, it must be true, since they're "fair and unbalanced"
"We report, you decide".
I decide not to watch Fox news.
Oh, and the jerk reading the prompter says that they have no natural enemies. Who writes this nonsense??
>>Oh, and the jerk reading the prompter says that they have no natural enemies. Who writes this nonsense??
Yeah, wouldn't it be nice to have a job where you can say whatever BS you want with no consequences?
But this is at the heart of the issue, at least for me. (BTW, I don't own any large constrictors, I'm just a nobody who is sickened by the junk science and propaganda.) This type of garbage and misinformation *is* the root of this entire python "issue." Why should we (as in "we the people" or we the "reptile nation"
ignore this? I don't watch Fox News either, but a lot of people and will be influenced by this garbage. Propaganda is propaganda, junk science is junk science - it should be rebutted. Compromising with junk science/garbage
simply legitimizes the garbage, and, imo, won't help in the long run. I readily admit I could be wrong, but that's just my opinion.
Why doesn't "reptile nation" use its supposed clout to write 20,000 letters to Fox News and/or other media outlets every time
garbage like this is aired or printed? That's what I'm not understanding. Where's the downside to exposing the truth?
Thanks,
Ed
Well, I do watch Fox News and often watch Shepard Smith. So I shot them an email. I expressed my view that I thought they were contributing to the emotional appeal and misinformation rampant in this issue and gave them the correct information.
The story on FOX was most likely one of the many Associated Press stories regularly used by multiple news agencies abroad. If anyone thinks it's a FOX exclusive, think again.
Click this link:
MSNBC - "Officials say the constrictors can produce up to 100 eggs at a time."
MSNBC, by the way, is 180 degrees different from FOX.

Which is far different than 100 eggs a day, correct?
And I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for a correction from any of them.
"Which is far different than 100 eggs a day, correct?"
That depends on who you ask? Ha! Ha!
Actually, I didn't catch the "day/at a time" difference. I'm on dial-up so videos are off limit to me, unless I have an hour to kill to watch a 3 minute video. Maybe with all the social engineering takin' place we'll get some kind of high speed Internet access out here in the sticks one of these days.
"And I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for a correction from any of them."
I'm not gonna hold my breath either, buddy! ;0
Later!

You have my sympathy. Ain't nothin' like high speed cable
I did that too. Here's my email.
This is in regard to Shepards Studio B video in which he featured the python hunt that is currently taking place in FL.
I love Shep and I love FOX news but as a python advocate, I cant let the misinformation go. I dont expect any kind of retraction but I would like him to know the truth.
These animals have become a problem in the Everglades National Park system. I wont dispute that. But calling them "deadly" as Shep did is unwittingly dishonest. You may do some fair and balanced research and find that from 1990-2008, Burmese pythons have been responsible for, are you ready for this, a total of FOUR deaths here in the U.S.(1) This does not include the most recent tragedy in Sumter FL, which would raise that total to five. All big snakes (reticulated pythons, burmese pythons, African rock pythons & Boa constrictors) have caused a total of eight deaths from 1990-2008. (1)Where is the "deadly" in this? A person is more likely to be killed by "mans best friend" which has caused between 17-30 deaths PER YEAR! I dont think FOX is reporting those statistics however.
Thes animals mate once or twice per year and produce a clutch of about 12-36 eggs.(2) Not 100 eggs each day. This is a horrible exaggeration. These animals have enough people wishing they were dead without this kind of sensationalism.
BTW did your reporters know that without snakes and birds of prey, we would be overrun with rodents. Anyone remember what happened in Europe regarding the black plague? Give these snakes a break and stick to the facts. Burmese pythons don't belong in the Everglades, certain individuals have been permitted to hunt them, and we will see how successful the eradication will be. Thats the news I'm interested in.
Once again, I love FOX, you get it right most of the time.

You forgot the part where he said they have no natural predators.
I noticed you have Boa Constrictors on your list of larger constrictors.
Nobody has ever been killed by a Boa Constrictor.
I'm not saying it couldn't happen, but it's not happened yet.
I cited Rexano.org when I included B constrictor in the list. They reported in 2006 a Ohio man was accidentally killed by his pet Boa or other python. There were conflicting reports as to what exactly caused his death. Which is why Boa was included in their list.
When I googled the death, various news agencies reported it as Boa, but we both agree that news people dont know the difference between the boas and pythons.

I saw that story.
You'd think that the news/media would take a second to get their facts straight. I saw one of the articles, relating to this story, that had a picture of a "Ball Python". It only takes a second to google Python or Boa Constrictor. You think, at the very least, they know how to use a computer to look up the "correct" info.
Going by the size of the snake it was most likely a Python. Had those that investigated the death "did their job". We'd know for sure what type of snake it was.
They go out and hunt pythons because of a couple of tragic deaths, they go after pits and other dogs because of a few more deaths... when are we going to completely iradicate white-tail deer??? They are the real killers! They are responsible for more deaths each year than all other animals together!

All this time, scientists have been worried about the near extinction of komodo dragons, pandas and other endangered species. Wow, turns out that all they needed was to release a few around Florida and..voilá, there would be thousands in no time. Lol.
Nah, there are plenty of Pandas... they are just being hidden in warehouses by the chinese since they found we are dumb enough to pay them over $1 million a year just to stick it in one of our zoos...
