Family Dog Steals Newborn

You beat me to it. I was going to post something about this.

Now don't get me wrong, I don't mean to disrespect this tragedy, but it was a wolf hybrid. People are going to go on an anti-hybrid kick, so the fact that it was a dog will be overlooked.

Although maybe it will take some pressure off pythons.

There was a kid in eastern NC that was attacked by a dog while staying with Grandparents. A medical heli had to come and pick him up. I can not find the link and not sure how the kid is doing.

but still, just another example that pets should not be left unsupervised around children.

On average there are 3 people killed per month from dog attacks in the US and many more injured, maimed or hospitalized due to dog attacks.

But that isn't Senator Nelsons crusade so it's not going to change the status of our fight. More people die falling from ladders than pythons -- again not going to change the status of our fight. He knows the numbers.

As tragic as another injured child is -- I'm no more willing to throw dogs under the bus than I am willing to throw burms under the bus to further our cause. Lets keep that little baby in our prayers instead of capitalizing on the family's tragedy like Senator Nelson has with the python attack.

I'm not willing to throw dos under the bus either, as I've been around dogs literally since I was born. it just amazes me that people are completely willing to ignore facts when they want to push an issue. I hope the baby recovers, though the outlook doesn't look very good.
