News story on my station's website yesterday... came of AP wires.

Gee, thanks, irresponsible pet owners... Why don't we also suggest they make a list of everyone who owns pitbulls or rottweilers, because we *know* they are potentially dangerous just like a pet python or "hot" snake...

Counties Want to Know Where the Snakes are Roaming

The Florida Association of Counties wants some help from the state wildlife agency on locating dangerous pet snakes.

People who own pythons and venomous snakes are required to get a permit from the state. Now counties are asking the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission to share that information with local governments. The association wants to identify homes where pythons and other restricted animals live.

The death of a Florida toddler, killed by a pet python this month, is prompting the group to push harder for reforms over the way the state regulates pet snakes.

A 2-year-old central Florida girl died July 1 after being strangled by a python.

this toddler's death had nothing to do with a pet snake, but with stupid parents. How are you going to let a toddler around a large constrictor? Hopefully the parents get charged with neglect or something. Those are the kinds of people who let their kids drown in the bath tub because they're talking on the phone.

And yeah, dogs kill more people, but they're soft and cuddly so no one cares.

Holly, some places have ALREADY looked into passing this law as well as wanting to release this information publically. One East coast city was looking to do something along the lines of a sex offender listing where all the owners of "pit bulls or pit bull type dogs" are posted on the internet so people can search them out.
