Feeding hatchling babies

gbpython Jul 22, 2009 06:38 PM

Hello I have 3 just hatched baby ball pythons and i was wondering how you guys got yours to start eating. It has been a little less than a week after they shed. I have tried frozen thawed rat pups, live rat pups, and even Mouse pinkies that are larger. Thanks for the help.

I've had the most luck giving them small (weaned) live mice.

Live mice. You can use either hoppers or small recently weaned adults.

Bigger than a fuzzy but not spastic like a "hopper". Dark colored ones work much better than white for a first few meals...

I start every one of my hatchlings on live ratpinks. I leave it in the tub over night.

Then I quickly move on to fuzzy rats.

Hope this helps, Good luck!

I start mine on live mice hoppers. Most take them right away.
