I've been keeping herps for around six years now but the only animal I've ever kept that could be considered one that needs high humidity is a green tree frog. I am interested in getting a pair of tincs and was wondering what kind of method you guys use for humidity. I'll only have one tank that needs it so would it still be worth it to invest in a misting system or will hand spraying work? My house tends to be very dry in the winter and I am worried I will forget to mist them and they will dry out. If I use a full glass top how long should I mist it and how often? What about partial screen? Thanks, for all of your help so far.

I would go with, say, 30% partial screen as to allow the tank to be ventilated which is importan when using lives plants and organic soil. The humidity should be around 80% and usually a few short mistings a day should keep it high enough...unless you live in a really dry area in which you may need to increase yoru mistings.

I would say not to use a misting system. They are not cheap, and in my opinion overkill for a small collection. I have yet to use one, but I can say I have no problem keeping my humidity high with a single daily hand misting. Just my 2 cents.

I went 9 years without having one. I had a pretty good collection for most of those years too. I only got one when I had my lab and had other people caring for them while I was gone. Now with my geckos I still don't plan on using one really.
Best,
Justin
