Do BRB's get restless before mating?

paublito Jul 23, 2009 11:51 AM

While I am not 100% positive, I think my adult pair are starting to mate again this year. The things is, I've noticed that they have been moving around a lot lately and this morning were interlocked with each other. My question is whether it is normal for a pair to be sort of restless before mating or if it is sign of stress.

Sounds normal to me. A male will not mate with a female unless she's giving off signs. IMO the female releases pheromones to attract a male. I think in captivity since the male is already in close proximity, he shows up before she's actually ready. Makes sense that she starts to atract a mate before she's actually ready to give him time to come accross her scent trail and follow/find her. Then the malke is attempting to mate while the female may not be allowing it to happen (just like people ) Once the female is receptive, ba-da-bing

And yeah, mating comes with some level of stress. Are my scales all straight? Does he think I'm pretty? Will he respect me in the morning or go on his merry way looking for another fling?

Nice! Thanks for the feedback.
I've noticed because the female has been especially active and bold whereas the male has been more shy than normal. Usually the role is reversed and the male is the more active and adventurous one. Still nice to actually see them out and about.
