What are the differences between a MSP and an intermediate phase?
db
I doubt there is an "official" definition for what an intermediate phase thayeri is, but I have my own personal definitions.
Animals where the red (or orange) bands are clearly narrower than the ground color are leonis phase. Animals with red bands that are clearly wider than the ground color are milksnake phase. Animals where the red bands are pretty close in width to the ground color are intermediates.
I suppose you could come up with definitions based on band count.

Years back I used to call the intermediates "Wide Banded Leonis."
They are just that "intermdiate."
Somewhere in between Leonis and MSP.
MSP Thayeri usually have equal width bands....One being Red and the other being the ground color.....
Leonis Thayeri have narrower bands (saddles). Or more narrow than the ground coloration.....
An Intermediate Thayeri has bands that are somewhat wider than Leonis bands but not quite as wide as the ground coloration....Intermediates are on the verge of being MSP....
That's my take on it.....LOL

In my opinion, it's when the base color and the red bands are fairly equally sized.
