Tessera is a new gene that KJ Lodrige, Don Soderberg and myself are introducing to the hobby. It's proven out to be a DOMINANT gene in corns- a first! A Tessera bred to a regular corn will produce a clutch consisting on ~1/2 normals and ~1/2 Tesseras...

Thanks. Cool new morph.

Have you bread a tessera to a tessera yet to prove dominant as apposed to co dominant?

Dish all the dirt, where first seen CB or WC, how many generations have there been? Love to hear it all.

Thanks,

Hello Amanda- I'm in the middle of feeding my snake building right now so I don't have time to go into great detail about the history- it's online if you search for it.

Yes, my partner KJ Lodrigue (KJUN Snake Haven) did the Tessera X Tessera cross this year- we were hoping for a "super" form but nothing noticeable popped out... we are calling it a DOMINANT.

Here is what KJ said:

"Results - no obvious super.

I looked at them quickly while moving them from hatching tub to holding tub, and nothing jumped out at me. There were only 14 eggs (I didn't count hatchlings yet to see if any failed to hatch), so it is possible that there is a super and we just didn't get one (bad luck). It is also possible that the super form is a superb stripe (because there were a couple of those) or something minor I missed in a FAST preview. I'm not sure we'll know for 100% until we breed a visual Tessera and continuously ONLY get visual Tesseras.

So, I believe we've confirmed that it is a DOMINANT mutation unless we just missed getting or IDing the super as such. I'm going to proceed as if it is a dominant, and the prices are as listed. I'm going to hold my tongue about other results until the end of the season when I can look at ALL of the results and take educated guesses about the interaction of this allele with other pattern mutations. "

Hope that helps.
