Some pics and feeding questions

yankeeslover Jul 23, 2009 10:09 PM

here are some new pics of my little piggy..he is around 18-19 inches long..im not sure how old he is, i purchased from petco in april.....My only problem with him, is not knowing wether im under or overfeeding him....he will eat two fuzzys if i let him,(actually, he would eat a softball or two if i would let him)this was him tonight after two fuzzys, hence the bulges, but I never know wether two a week is too much, or if i stick with one..He is still way to thin for small hoppers, his belly is about the size of a fuzzy...would you feed one fuzzy per week or two fuzzys per week?

It sounds to me like you are doing fine. If you feed him two fuzzies, and a week later the lump in him is gone, then its not too much. If you are concerned that two might be too much all at once, feed him one every 4 or 5 days.

While they are young and growing, it is hard to overfeed them. That is assuming they have all the proper conditions for security, and thermoregulation.

I know I have posted this picture before, but it is still one of my favorites.

I agree with mrkent. That bulge from eating is significant, but not excessive. If it's gone in a few days and he's ready to eat again in a week or less, then I'd simply keep up the good work.
