Just added male to 2 females, behavior questions?

kyle phillips May 25, 2003 01:23 AM

I just added him and he is dragging his tail around and when gets near the others is shaking it in the sand and is kinda nipping at their tails a lil. Is this normal? What are normal behaviors and what should i expect. and just incase what do two males do when they meet eachother? Is it obvious? Im certain as i can be that the two are females though. I apreciate any help i get.

Kyle

they do the tail flicker to find out what sex the other geckos are. if the gecko returns a tail flicker, its a male, and they fight. his nipping is out of curiousity, and they'll be fine, just watch carefully for a while to make sure there is no actual fighting.

The tail nip thing is also a mating instinct....the male/female will nip each other in various places while they mate. Mine usually clamp onto the neck..the first time this happened I was incredibly afraid because the female is huge and the male is only average size...it looked like she would take his head off. It's normal, as long as they don't draw blood or anything.
