eggs keeping getting "fuzzy"

KellyWood23 Jul 24, 2009 11:59 AM

Hey guys,

It has been a number a years since I have raised geckos so I have forgotten most everything I have learned. LOL

My question is what am I doing wrong? All my geckos eggs last about a week in the incubator and then they get all fuzzy.

I am using a Hovabator, the eggs are in moist vermic. and the temp is about 85*. The eggs should be fertile, but I know some are not.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Sounds like you may have too much humidity. What are your humidity ranges/percentages? Too much moister in a concealed place = mold. Could also be that they aren't getting enough ventilation.

Humidity is 80% thru out the whole incubator and I open the incubator up once a day for air exchange. Should I drop the humidity some?

Thanks!

Make sure that the vermiculite is not to wet either that could be the problem. If you didn't start with fresh vermiculite that would be the first thing I would change I would also toss out any that had and moldy eggs in it. gl

I do not think the vermic is too wet, but I will change it anyways since there have been alot of moldy eggs on it. I have 2 eggs that are in a different container and the are, so far, doing great. I will do as recommended and see what happens.

Thanks again.
