According to Portsmouth Police, there is a missing snake, an 8-foot Burmese Python, missing in the Island Park section of town. The snake is missing from a residence on Gormley Street. Police are advising residents to keep an eye on kids and pets. Police and animal control are actively looking for snake.

I see bad & good in what you've posted.

Yes, it's always bad news when a snake escapes and makes the news. The problem is, based striclty on what you've posted, we don't know if the owner is to blame for the escape or not. Yeah, we could say, "Bottom line - the owner is always responsible for whatever happens>"

The good news is - It appears that the owner did the right thing by contacting authorities and the snake was ultimately found.

Without knowing for sure the details of the escape I won't criticize or condemn the owner for the escape. However, I will glady commend them for being responsible enough to contact authorities and rectifying the situation.

I see a happy ending.
