xxldmblue13xx Sep 15, 2003 03:43 PM

Ok i've asked this like twice already but no one answers - it may be a dumb question but it's my first time breeding leos. now, when the eggs get firmer and swell like they're going to pop - does that mean they are going to hatch soon?? ( i cooked them at about 80 degrees and it's already week 8!) Please help!!

All my eggs that have hatched have swelled up just before hatching. Ive never seen the signs like sweating and colapsing after they swell and just before they hatch myself. They continuously grow but I can tell when there real close plus I candle them and usually see a little movement just before they hatch also. Ive had a couple eggs go to term and swell only to die with no formed baby in them too. hope this helps some. Keep a close eye on them.

If they are fertile, then they should hatch fairly soon. 80 is like way on the low side for temp and it takes a bit longer.

most of the time yes. I notice mine doing so right before like a week then right before they go to hatch they usually dent a bit as the baby absorbs the liquid.
