I can't get enough of this ghost.

Conserving_herps Jul 26, 2009 03:05 PM

It's only been four days since she hatched but I just can't get enough of her...so I took more pics of her. These close up pics were taken without a camera flash (just normal lighting coming from the window) but what struck me is that she has red eyes!!! Normal ghosts usually have just black eyes, and hypo extremes have red eyes...and her bands are really ultra light bands.

Yes, her father is a hypo extreme het anery that I posted several threadlines down. And her mother is an ordinary ghost. Shannon suggested that she should just be called "extremish" from extreme line. If she is not classified as an extreme ghost then, I think a new word should be coined for cases like her...that she is not the exact likeness of the ghost extreme that Mike Falcon first produced but she is certainly no ordinary ghost. My suggestion for that word or phrase should be "HYBRID ghost extreme". And for ultra light hypo extremish, it should be called "HYBRID hypo extremes".

Any opinions?

Thanks,

Ray

She's gorgeous. She looks like an extreme ghost to me.... Can you post more pics of her? And her parents as well? I love her, she's awesome!

I wouldn't call it a "hybrid" anything...VERY nice double mutation....Love those ruby red eyes!

Here are the pics of parents (male hypo extreme and female ghost)that you requested. Today, she is 5 days old and is starting to turn "blue" before her first shedding...so i will take pics of her again after shedding and post it.

Thanks for your compliments man.

Bud, I never said anything about caling it "extremish"....Not sure where you saw that but it wasn't me.
This is what I said.

"Nice looking clutch Ray.

I would say by the photos that the ghost is just a nice light one.I would call it a ultra light ( would indicate that it has extreme blood in it) and the hypos look like ultra lights as well."

And please don't call it a hybrid anything. That would just be a mess.

I really think its just what it is and thats a nice light ( or "ultralight" ghost.I have produced many many ghosts that had red eyes and not all of them had extreme blood in them. But when they have one parent that is a extreme I would like to see it called "ultra light ghost" but its your call cause you produced it.

Here is a couple I produced last year that had some extreme blood in them but I didn't call them extreme ghosts. They just didn't make the grade for me to call them extreme anything.

now, here is a ghost I had many years ago that started my v.p. line and he had ruby red eyes but wasn't related to any extreme lines.

And this is a extreme ghost.

I especially like the Extreme Ghost. I have three clutches of DH Ghost to DH Ghost all from various lines cooking know. Keep my fingers crossed I get something as nice as those.

I am fine using the word "ultra light" to refer to any ghost or hypo that is close to being an extreme but not an extreme. But to me, we can call it ultra light only if the snake is VERIFIABLY produced from an extreme lineage.

Some high end looking hypos that people may call ultra light cannot be verified (other than speculating) that the lineage is extreme...that is why I suggested coming up with a word or phrase.

That's all I am trying to convey.

Btw Shannon, I apologize if I misquoted you.

Thanks man.

That's a very nice Ghost. I can definently see the Extreme linage in her. I have a female Hypo from Extreme lines that's bands are about the same color as your girls. Personally, I refer to her as an Extreme Line Hypo. That way she's not misrepresented as an Extreme but indicates she has Extreme linage in her. Definently don't use the term hybrid, that can get very confusing. I know Mike Falcon & some others often times uses the term Extremish, so you could call her an Extremish Ghost. The term Ultra Light is new to me, but I like it. Otherwise, I would just call her gorgeous.
