PYTHON BAND/TORTOISES

emysbreeder Jul 28, 2009 07:55 AM

Tortoises keepers. Please go to the Law/CITES forum and learn about the Python Band,and act. How does it relate to us? First:Pythons are the heart of the reptile Industry. If this goes through the reptile ind.will fail in many way's. Reptile shows will end or be deminished. 2nd; We will be next. The Sulcuta tortoise is our Python. Big,cheap,already being released and found in the wild. 3rd. AR's=PETA=USHS=AZA all think private people should NOT be able to own wild animals. Please do not blow this off! ACT! They will be coming after us next. Whether you like Pythons or not,fight this,join USARK,do what ever you can. 4th:Pay attention to your own county/State proposed laws on keeping reptiles. Thanks for action in advance,we need it very much. Some of us depend on our animals for a living and have invested EVERYTHING including time we can not recover. What has happened to the USA? And what type of music does this "Python Band" play?

Punk, reggae, alt rock?

:->

I'm all for responsible pet keeping. Unfortunately if you hand out large and/or potentially dangerous animals to a lot of people, a small proportion of them will let bad things happen.

Then everyone else suffers for it.

Discussing both sides of the issue is the American way.

Mr. BradTort.....

Just look at the pet industry in general, people own big dogs some house them properly some don't. We hope that through penalties they can suffer enough financially that they follow the law in regard to care and safe housing of their dog or Python whatever it may be. Do we want them taking the right from us to own dogs, absolutely not. The problem with HR2811 is the way it is presently written. If it goes through their banning the ball pythons, carpets, timors, childrens and on and on. No way do these snakes represent a threat to humans. Please get on the phone for the future of out industry.....later Richard

The other side of the issue of freedom is a Python "BAN" as in you can't have it. Just fill in the blank, Python Tortoise Dog Cat. You must be able to tell when groups of American's are being singled out. And that my friend is unconstitutional,and hard working folks will be hurt. Maybe not you,this time.We need people to correct the Congress not my spelling.Vic

I called each of the congressmen concerning HR2811 and it took alittle over 30 minutes. Folks if they prevail here they will slowly take every exotic we work with from us. Please it's not to late to call even this morning....Thanks Richard

Very well put. Dont let the government stop you from enjoying life. There is only one thing i really wanted to do today and that is go feed some hungry tortoises. I know i am not the only one. I think the worst thing we could do is take away something that is constructive from our kids. I think Vic said it best in one of his ads when he said something to the effect of get your kids a tort and they will become facinated with everything that ends with ology. Why would you take that away?
