Help choosing a monitor please

ryanhayes96 Jul 28, 2009 12:53 PM

Hi,

I have been looking at getting a new monitor lizard in the near future. However I am not sure of which kind. I want one that is

Not very shy
Can be a max of 4.5 to 5 feet
Not extremely aggressive
Not an extremley common species

I have been looking at some species such as the Ridge Tail Monitors but cannot decide really on what I want. If anyone could help me choose or suggest species that would be awesome. Possibly there is some rare species that I am missing?

Try starting with a pair of ackies or tristis. Ackies have loads of personality and are awesome in my opinion. Also you can accomodate a pair easily if you are willing to commit to a 4.5 to 5 ft lizard which will easily eat much more than two ackies.

They meet your qualifications as far as what you listed in looking for a monitor.

Cheers,
Mike.
