Stupid question

Hi. I'm writing a piece and need to know if it's possible for a scarlet kingsnake to kill a newborn duckling. I'm assuming it wouldn't be able to eat one, but I'm interested specifically in its capacity to kill.

One scenario: if the kingsnake were crawling across the road and a herper driving along saw it and swerved, the duckling might be run over. That could happen.

just out of curiosity, what the heck sort of piece are you writing?!
