Been collecting good condition DOR Crotes and Pits all summer, It's a bummer to see all these snakes dead but I might as well make use of them.

I coaxed him out to eat the snake, when he got a hold of it he "paraded" around the cage then chowed it in the back.

Nate, I have been doing the same thing, and my D. couperi get very excited over snakes. It is apparent to me they are well designed for ingesting them, quickly! Pituophis, Arizona and Crotalus, (especially sidewinders) are a big hit. Frozen for at least a month...and fed as part of a varied diet. Amazing how instinct expresses intself, i.e. my D. couperi agressively chew and stretch the snake prey, not necessarily so when offered chicks/rodents/fish. They seem to like snakes...vic h.

I'm just starting to do this as well. I have a few copper heads in the freezer.

Very cool Nate. Glad to see them enjoying the roadkill.
