We call 'em Black Brooksi...

FoxTurtle Jul 30, 2009 12:25 AM

A friend came up with that name for me... Kind of a contradiction of terms, huh?

This is a line of kings from Miami-Dade County, FL. Nice brooksi have been found in the same area, but these are much darker than what you would normally call "brooksi". The male was collected in November 2007, and the female in late March 2009.

The female was skinny when captured, but I fed her like crazy and through her in with the male. I witnessed them breeding a couple times, and on June 1st I got a clutch of 8 good eggs. Eggs started hatching a couple nights ago, and 7 of the 8 are out now.

One thing I'm interested in is to see if any of these end up looking like regular light colored brooksi...

Some pictures...

I am very excited to see you add these to your lines! In many regards, they are as classic as a brooksi. Stick to your guns!!!

That first one (male?) is similar to the Peanut Butter brooksi normals.
