Sexing Bulls

snakemanc5 Jul 30, 2009 02:37 AM

First off, sorry if this has already been covered. I cant seem to figure out how to filter the search results for this forum.

My question is regarding a Bull that I bought afew months ago. I bought him as a male and have faith in the breeders ability to sex the snakes but Ive not been able to get him to pop to save my life and I know sometimes there are mix ups. He is probably about 3 months old and about 50g in weight.

Im not the best at popping anyway, Ive only ever bred afew clutches of corns and theyve not been a huge issue to sex since the tail is a pretty good indicator. Ive also never sold any babies to anyone concerned with having a specific sex.

With bulls, is there anything different that I should consider when trying to determine the sex? Also, do male bulls tend to show the same very gradual taper of the tail that corns exhibit?

I know I should have gotten the breeder to double check before I bought (I was at a reptile show) but didnt think until it was too late. ANY help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Try probing. If you don't know how you can injure the animal. Take him to a competent person with experience in probing.
