Ha! How to generate more support....

How to generate more support for the reptile nation's cause and make it more mainstream?

Somebody should actually support the anti-invasive species movement and rally congress to demand that these new ban bills include the breeding and selling of some of the more popular non-native, invasive/lethal species like horses, burrows, dogs, cats, pigs, cattle, pheasants, brown trout, and chickens etc.

Let some national newspapers run headlines like: "Congress threatens to ban all breeding, sale and importation of non native and dangerous species like dogs, horses, pythons, etc..."

Do you think that would widen the circumference of common ground a little?

Even if congress eventually wittles away at the list of species to be included on any ban movement, saying things like: "Horses, Pheasants, Dogs and Brown Trout are different..." despite the fact that all three of these non native species have rampant wild populations all over the country, and domestic dogs and horses kill far more people every year than retics and burms have in the history of the country combined, the same arguments they will have to floor to remove these more popular species from the same list as pythons will actually support our cause and ultimately lead to an acknowledgment of absurdity regarding these python genus ban bills.

So essentially, by forcing congress to have to defend horses, dogs, pheasants, brown trout, etc. we actually convert them into agents for our own cause do we not?

I personlly think, an effective way to fight these types of bills, might be to actually support them, or more precisely: demand that other more popular species be included on the lists of species in the hot seat.

If we were successful in doing so, a classic "Tyranny of the Majority" described by Tocqueville would ultimately shine through here, and add millions of sympathizers to our ranks. Is there a better war strategy than to make your strongest enemies your front line fighters, to do the heavy lifting and bleeding for you?

Wonder what deep pocketed horse farmers, dog owners, cattle ranchers, pork bellies stock holders, fly fisherman and Colonel Sanders would have to say even if the only thing proposed was stiffer regulation and permitting procedures etc....
