Hi there,
I am somewhat new to this site, actually just havent logged in for like 8 months!!
I have a cal-king that i got last september and it was about 10in. long , it is now about 30in. when i brought the snake home it ate alot probably 3 to 4 pinkies and fuzzies a week for quite a while then it started to eat hoppers at about the same rate, only slowing down its eating when ready to shed. as the snake has gotten older the food i have fed it has gotten larger. a month ago it was eating alomst full size mice about 1 per week.
now here is the problem--- It has only eaten twice in the last 5 weeks and the meals it has taken havent been as big infact a week and a half ago it ate only a weanling. the snake looks very healthy and doesnt look like its losing weight but it kind worries me because the snake always was pretty regular on atleast eatin once a week. the snake just shed last week and it came off all in one shot just like it always does.
The temps in the cage are a little bit warmer than usual being that its summer and the temps are alot warmer. would warmer temps cause them to stop feeding?? is it normal for snakes to slow their feeding down like this? should i be worried? or just keep trying to offer it food every day?
any info or help woul be greatly appreciated. please
thankyou very much--- godzuki

>what are the cage temps? hi temps are not bad unless they cannot escape them, better the gradient, the happier the snake will be. has there been any change in its stools sense this started? are you feeding frozen or live?
good luck,,,,,,,,,thomas davis

the cage temps are right around 80 to 85 clear through the tank, i had shut off the heat lamp and the floor heater about a month ago because the temps were so warm. still recieves light from outside the tank. i have noticed that the stool is smaller when she goes and seems to be alot of hair but other than that they seem normal. temps have cooled off the last 2 days and so i thought i would turn the floor heater back on, it only heats about 1/3 of the floor.
As far as diet goes she gets a diet of about half and half sometimes she gets a live one and sometimes she gets a frozen thawed one. sometimes i think she prefers a live one.
do you think maybe she has a parasite? is there any over counter meds for those? if there are do you think that there would be a problem administiring them just in case?
thanks for the reply and help
