All of my eggs have hatched except one and that one has pipped.
well, not really all.
After the first couple of weeks when the few questionable eggs went bad I had 139 eggs I expected to go full term and hatch.
A few of you have read my posts about incubating dry and how last season I had a much higher hatch rate and absolutely no kinks.
This season I incubated dry as possible again and the temps ranged between about 76 to 81F.
The eggs averaged between 65 and 70 days to hatch.
Out of the 139 eggs 136 have hatched, 1 has pipped and 2 didn't make it.
So, 137 out of 139, and no kinks, not too bad. 98.56% hatch rate.
I'll take that any day.
That matches up with last seasons results.
I think the two previous seasons were around 87%.
I incubated in the same containers, using the same substrate (sphagnum moss) and placed them on the same shelves in the same rack.
The previous seasons I had no holes in the containers and kept the substrate much more moist. The temps were generally the same, averaging between 80 to 84F.
