LOOKING FOR REPTILES ENTHUSIASTS IN NYC

fabrizionewyork Sep 15, 2003 07:09 PM

Hi,
My name is Fabrizio Li Vigni and I live in Nassau County, in Long Island, New York. I'm very young but very fond of reptiles and amphibians. I'm Italian and I've been living here for only 3 months. I'm looking for reptiles/amphibians enthusiasts living near by me. This means that you can live both in Nassau County and New York City (or wherever else is near). The important is that we can get together sometimes. In Italy I used to have 3 friends with this passion and I always used to talk with them about herpetology. Now I don't talk anymore, and you know what it could mean for an enthusiast!

I wrote articles for Italian reviews and I'm still working with them. I go crazy mainly for lizards, frogs, toads, salamanders and newts, even if sometimes I kept a few turtles and a few snakes. I'm very interested and experienced with European species. If you like them, and keep some of them, you can contact me immediately!!!

My e-mail is reptiles5a88@aol.com

You can be either young or adult. The important is that you like herpetology!

I'd also like someone with whom I could go hunting in the field, or go to some show (like New York Metro Reptile Expo), or simply go to a Pet Shop to buy the common mealworms for our animals.

Hope to receive answer soon from anyone,
Best regards,
Fabrizio.

Dear Fabrizio,
I am not close to NYC (I live in Gainesville, FL) and I am
"very old." But I saw your note and wanted to respond. There is at least one herp club in your area that should help you find kindred souls to talk and herp with. I believe there is also a turtle and tortoise club in the city.
I no longer keep many herps, but the European species, from slowworms to Lacertas and Podarcis (but especially the newts and salamanders) are among my favorites.
I hope that you find a close friend with whom to share your enthusiasm for the hobby.
Kind regards/Dick Bartlett
