I thought snow X Ghost motley would not

chongorojo Aug 02, 2009 09:43 PM

produce any normals? I bred those two together and got 10 anery het amel hypo and motley and 3 normal het amel hypo motley and anery? I thought anery to anery equals all anery? and some look like aztecs or zig zags but both of the parents have clean blocky patterns I thought these were selectively bred traits? any help here, Im confused! Im mainly do balls but am getting more and more in to the corns.

Thanks in advance
Brian

Wow, I have no idea what is going on there, but I love the zig zag patterning! Very cool!

Its possible your Ghost and Snow were derived from different Anery genes. If I remember correctly, Anery A is the old fashioned anery, while Anery B is charcoal. I think lavender is used as a type of anery in some morph formations as well. I am pretty sure a hypo charcoal is called Phantom, not Ghost. Not sure what the snow version using charcoal is called, maybe pearl?? Similar expression, but not compatible. It is likely your morphs were produced with non-compatible forms of anery, yet one was het. for the other form. Of course there are tons of hidden genetics in corns these days with unexpected results popping up here and there. I bred a female amel with a normal pattern to a male butter stripe. I knew I would get all amels, but was surprised some turned out motley!!

I just checked my genetics calculator and you are corect you should of got all anery het amel hypo and motley. but remember there could of been a miss match in the anery gene as posted above.

My herp vet told me that it was the amel "female" that was in with that pair that was the papa of the normals, the story of that---> didn't know "she was a "he" so when I tried to breed the snow male to the ghost motley and amel "female" I figured out real quick that bthe amel was a male as were chasing each other and being aggressive I didn't think a male could breed a female in 5 minutes and fight with a male too. Anyway lesson learned PROBE EVERYTING The snow female looks like anery A and amel he has to much pink for anery B IMO as for the make up of the ghost motley I don't know she looks blueish and has pastel pink on her back.

It SHOULD have been all phenotypical Anerys or at least that plus whatever shared genetics the parents might have.

This is wierd. But you got some crazy cool patterns out of it!
