Post your Pewters, Cinnies, and Pastels!

Brandon Osborne Aug 04, 2009 02:34 PM

I'm asking everyone to post pics of these. I am curious to see how others' animals look compaired to what I'm hatching. I'll elaborate more as the pics are posted.
My original female Pewter.

One of her '08 offspring.

Updated pics and pics of the 2009 clutch coming soon.

Thanks

Brandon, I have always thought of your original Pewter as the nicest Pewter I have seen. That 08 is following suite. Very nice!

08 Pastel from Pewter

08 Pewter from same

08 Pewter from same

All of the animals I've posted in this thread are from the same pairing of adult Pewter female. Maybe I'm thinking too much, but after seeing the 09 clutch I'm wondering if there could be something else working in the mix as well.

I'll post more pics when I can get new ones.

Thanks again for posting.

Picked this female up a few months ago. I believe she was born mid March 2009. I mostly keep recessives, but I love this girl. Her head and neck still have some recent shed attached so the skin in this area looks a bit leathery.

Here is a clutch of blacks that just hatched and a yearling cinnamon... All het for pied, of course! The pastels haven't hatched yet.

If you haven't noticed, all of the animals I've posted, other than the pastel, have very prominent striping. The thing is, they are all het for pied, except for the original pewter female. My newest clutch consists of 2.1 pastel het pied, 1.1 cinny het pied, and 0.2 pewter het pied.....all have very strong striping again. They look completely different than the other cinnies, pastels and pewters I've seen. Very nice stuff.

I thought it might be! Here is another cinnamon het for piebald from the same sire cinnamon to a different pied female. The black pastels are from a male pied (not related to either of the females that produced the cinnamons) bred to an average black pastel female. The piebald gene sure seems to bring out the stripes!

Pewter baby. First picture is before her first shed. Other two are just after her first shed.

steelcityexotics Aug 04, 2009 10:17 PM

Hello Brandon, Your female is one of the nicest I have had. I have enclosed a pic of her brother out of the same clutch. And the pastel female he is breeding is her mother. I have also enclosed a pic of one of the sterlings he produced along with a few pewter’s. What do you think you have going on? Maybe I can shed some light on it? Take care Paul Wyble at Steel City Exotics.

Brandon Osborne Aug 05, 2009 03:45 PM

Hey Paul, thanks for a great snake! I'm not sure if it's going on by your end or not, but the animals I've produced out of my girl are a bit odd when compared to others I've seen. As I said, I don't know if it's the Pied gene messing with things or if it's something else. As soon as I can get pics of the new hatchlings I'll get them posted. Even a couple of friends have said they all look different than other pewters, cinnies, and pastels they've seen and hatched. The pastels almost look like yellow belly pastels.?

Thanks again.
