Can snake ticks come from rats?

Hello,
My ball python had one tick when I got him 2 yrs ago, and has been clean since. However, I just found and removed another one from him. I use Repti-bark as substrate. I'm wondering if he could have got it from feeder rats (frozen thawed), because the only store that sells feeders around here is pretty dirty.
