I just posted this on another blog in repose to the "Why Snakes? Why not Dogs? question. I think it germane to the discussion on this Forum and worth repeating here.

Copied and Pasted:

It is simply a matter of Culture. That is why it is so desperately important we shout the acceptability [of these animals] from the Rooftops, in order to turn this Cultural Battleship around.

We've got to Enlighten the Citizenry. It is up to Us to change the Culture in order to save these Animals.

Our Mantra should be CONSERVATION THROUGH COMMERCE!

And our Slogan should be EDUCTION THROUGH UBIQUITY!

I've heard it said this way: "Conservation through Commercialization", and it has both alliteration and better consonance.

While this "confrontation" with illogical politicians and fanatical animal rights actavists has gained much momentum, this is not a "new" battle. I would recommend, if you have not already, read, Dean Rippa's "Degenerated Science" first published in 2001. It is almost "profecy" concerning our tasks of the day.

Most of us on this forum, "think" that reason, freedom, tolerance, knowledge and understanding are prerequisits for winning this battle...and they are very important...but we must remember the otherside's agenda, is not about those things...but about control and power (money)...and that is why they focus more on the "publicity of propaganda" then the facts. This is not just about our rights to keep pythons...but it is about our RIGHTS as a free people.
