Zahara's kids, post shed pics

AbsoluteApril Aug 05, 2009 12:19 AM

Zahara had her kids on 6/26/09 at 110 days POS. I originally counted 17 but turns out she had 18 total (and 2 slugs). They’ve all had their first shed and except for one stubborn hold out, have all eaten f/t, most of them have had 3 meals. I’m pretty happy with how these little het albinos are turning out. All pics taken indoors under a normal light, camera on auto and no flash.

I planned to keep 2 from this litter but having a hard time picking out which ones! Here’s some of the contenders!

This one stood out since birth as very light

This one almost looks like it’s glowing:

Raspberries!

This one is not as clean but check out that pink head!

I saw this in her harlequin litter and wasn’t expecting anything like it in this one:

And this one is a standout for completely different reasons, he has a very odd gun-metal wash all over, especially on the sides and lots of pepper. One other baby is similar but not to this extreme. I can’t make up my mind on this one:

weird tail:

Here’s a couple others from the litter:

side shot:

same but under natural lighting (and very blurry)

Gotta love boas!

It is hard to choose the ones you will keep...as we are biased and love them all

For what it is worth I like the animal in the first pic.

They are looking great April! I see why you're having such a hard time deciding which ones to pick, but I like the little peppered guy for sure!

Thanks! Yea the peppered kid is really odd looking, so different than all the others. It's so hard to choose but it's so much fun at the same time.

I like the first 2.

They seem pretty big already, either that or that is a real tiny
hand in that picture...

haha! My hands are pretty average. The babies from this litter are all pretty good sized, that one I am holding is one of the smaller ones too.

I like the first two! Very clean and it looks like they will get some nice pink after some sheds.

Thanks! I appreciate it. Those two do have a similar look as well, I may pull them out next to each other to really compare them.

Hi April,

I would keep these 4 babies then after about 1 - 1/2 years I would pick out the best two and sell the other two as my hold backs.

This one looks like it's a Pastel to me.

See, now that's the thinking I like! I wish I could keep quite a few of them, I may end up holding back a few more than I planned on.
Thanks for the nice comments!

If you need cage space you could make a rack like this one and it don't take up to much space.

I made this 4 foot wide rack system and it has lots of air flow around it and it is on wheel so you can move it around when you need to. I used a wire shelving system and the Sterilite 15 qt. tub # 1754 for baby boas and the Sterilite 74 qt. tub # 1969 for sub adults and boas about 6 feet long and less than 12 to 15 lbs. The 1754 tub measures 17 inches x 11 inches x 6 - 3/8 inches and the 1969 tub measures 44 inches x 19 - 3/4 inches x 6 - 3/8 inches. I also used 4 inch flexwatt along the back of each shelf to heat the tubs.

Set up like this picture cost me about $350 with 4 inch X 44 inch flexwatt on each shelf. I had to buy 2 wire shelving set ups to make this one. The shelving cost around $80.00 each at Sam's club.

Take care
Tom
