Caramel Albino Spider *updated pics*

CrestedGecko.com Aug 05, 2009 02:42 PM

Here are a couple photos of the caramel albino spider, post-shed and with a couple of meals in him. I can't wait to see him at about 400 grams when all that bright caramel albino coloration really sets in. If his color gets anywhere close to what our typical caramel albinos get, he's going to be pretty hot!

Thanks for looking.

Garrick, Clearly your knowledge of all things Ball pythons is FAR GREATER than mine.

But I must ask in the most sincere, deferential, non-confrontational, head-bowed, manner possible -- a question that others are certainly themselves wondering... Are you sure the Caramel gene is in that Spider?

I ask because in ALL other Caramel combos that have been produced -- one does not find themselves asking that question -- at least I don't. Thank you for any input, info, and response.

I missed on the caramel spyder for the last 2 years(as have others) but have proven my spyder het caramel and the het caramel females he is being bred to. Hopefully, i hatch them out this year as i have enough eggs to do it.
BUT, i really dont see any caramel in this snake.I dont like all the caramel combos but at least i never doubt the caramel aspect when i see it. And, I say that respectfully to your success. But i had hoped the caramel spyder would rival or be better than the HoneyBEE and so far i am disappointed. I can only hope this spyder has some different genetics at work and is not indicative of what we can expect in future caramel spyders.
And if the caramel spyder isnt more "caramel" than this, maybe the combos will make up for it.

The color is definitely not coming out right in the photos, but I'm positive this snake is a caramel albino spider. I produced the spider het caramel father myself as well as the het caramel mother. In person, it is a very unique snake. It has the colors that my baby caramels have had when they first hatched. I think the dark pattern color looks a little different, because they are thin lines, not larger areas that show blushing like the regular caramels show. Looking at the photos, I can understand why some people would question it. However, keep in mind what the caramel pinstripe looked like when it first hatched, comared to now. I think the spider will change like that, too. I will definitely post updated photos as soon as his color starts to come in. I'll also plan to bring him to the NARBC in Chicago so he can be seen in person.

Thanks,

Garrick

I honestly dont know how people are not seeing the caramel gene in this snake. Definitely not a normal spider, and imo looks nothing like a mojave spider either.

Gratz Garrick, cant wait to see that guy in Chi-town
