Does anyone know if there are different local forms of Cyclura Nubila Nubila? My male which is know 6 years old gets more and more blue coloured where rock iguanas of other bloodines (in Europe) stay brownish.

To me that looks like either a Cyclura n. caymanensis or a caymanensis x lewis. Perhaps a nubila x lewisi as well. It does NOT look like a pure C. n. nubila....

thats strange. I didn't know that there are "hybrids" on the market in Europe. The origin of that male is Zoo Prague (CZ) of the female Jiri Gabris and I understood that the breeding couple has its origin althought at Zoo Prague. Will try to get some information over there. But you are sure that this isn't nubila.nubila?
It doesn't look like a Cuban Iguana to me or at least I've never seen a Cuban Iguana like that before and I've seen a LOT of Cuban Iguanas in my life....

that one is the father from my female, I'll try to get some pics from the breeding line from Prague Zoo.

HUGE!
Really a nice one that guy.
I think the milk man paid a visit to the mother of you iguana. That can't be the father. lol

perhabs a "blue" (german saying for drunken) milkman
Very nice looking hybrid. Not a pure Cuban.
I was thinking the same thing.
Plus,
Cubans shouldnt have that much blue if any blue at all.
Caymanensis can sometimes attain a little blue around the mouth and low shoulder area. Your lizard has a head scale that is 95% consistent in caymanensis and is in about 5% of cubans, so I would guess that would be a caymanensisxlewisi or a nubiliaxcamanensisxlewisi that is real high in cayman or nubila. Also, I dont know how strict the european zoos are in aquiring pure animals? They may believe they have pure because someone told them it is. The zoos in the U.S. DNA test every lizard to have proof of purity before they spend thousands on breeding programs on these animals. Nevertheless, you have a nice lizard and if it is just going to be a pet, who cares about the purity. I just wouldnt use it in any breeding programs.
hi mark, many thanks. Will ask my vet if he can do a DNA screen to clear it out..
Any Idea what this male is?:

It's hard to tell but there's definitely Lewisi blood in that male. A cuban hybrid often has some orange visible but I don't see any tell tale signs in these pictures. Do you have a pictue of his profile? Lewisi and Caymensis have a longer snout compared to a Cuban.
I'm not sure if your vet will be any help with DNA testing. Years ago, Texas A&M was doing DNA testing. They did it on my pair which confirmed them to be pure Lewisi. I'm not sure who is doing this work now-a-days.
Here's a picture of my pure Lewisi male. This is a good profile picture that shows the length of the snout compared to a Cuban.

not very good quality and without the tail:

looks like a cuban/cayman hybrid to me. lotta' nice blue in him, and a cuban head
jf
I agree, the head shape looks Cuban. The only thing that throws me is the color. Typically Cuban hybrids don't have so much blue.
Great looking Cyclura!
