My 2 bearded dragons laid eggs for me about 3 weeks ago. And now i have been noticing there are flys in the incubator! What is the cause of this? And what should I do?
Will my eggs be okay?
THANKS,
Shawna

If they resemble fruit flies then you most likely have phorid flies in your incubator. They are an extremely common pest problem in incubators and insect colonies. They are also known as cadaver or mortuary flies and feed primarily on decaying organic matter. Unfortunately the larva will also parasitize and kill living eggs. Without turning them over, check the underside of the eggs for the maggots. It helps to start over with fresh incubation substrate and isolate any eggs that appear dead.
