Free female stillwater to good home...

Joeycoco98 Aug 08, 2009 01:18 PM

Ok,just kidding but she is making me want to send her packing. She never poops outside of her hide. She literally does not come out of the hide unless its feeding time. Otherwise she sits in there with her head sticking out waiting for food. She poops in there and sits in it until I check and clean the poop. Anyone else ever experience this?

Sounds like typical Pit behavior. Both my SD Gophers do it constantly. When I come home from work I guess they feel the vibrations of the door closing. Within 2 min. of me sitting on the couch heads are poked out of their hides staring @ me. If I don't sit onthe couch they will stare @ the spot on the couch i usually sit. I've thrown out countless poster packing tubes that I use for hides because a few days after feeding you can be sure they'll be caked w/ Pit poop.

Yep, they are messier than most. My corns, milks literally stay "away" from their feces but my SD Gophers and Bulls will have no problem smashing it around if I don't clean it up right away. They are, by far, messier than my other snakes. Keeps me on my toes after they feed

One of my Pacific gopher snakes likes to poop in her sphagnum moss hide, a Glad container. She's a big girl and makes a big poop! So I routinely wash this out and replace the soiled moss. My other five pits are less messy, pooping near the hides but not in them.

My pyros and Cal king are very tidy. They go to the far end of their habitats and poop there. No one has ever soiled its hide.

...all mine are pretty tidy and well behaved and only my deppei are really shy but at least they don't crap themeselves.

Well I guess there is comfort in knowing I am not alone in this. I am off to feed and afterwards I will surf the net for Depends for snakes!

No, mine poop in the corners of the cage. But I use cereal boxes for hides so I can just toss them if they poop in them. If you change your mind, be sure to let us all know. I'm sure you'll have some takers.

hahahah, I will let you know for sure. She is much more yellow now since I took that pic. Maybe I will wake up my photo taking side and post some updated pics the weekend. Her sister is wicked orange I just can't stop staring at her.
