close hypo Lav. head shot

DMong Aug 09, 2009 03:53 PM

This snake's pupils are darker ruby-red than many other hypo Lav's that I've seen, so I decided to try to capture the color and detail of them, and the rest of the head as well. In most lighting situations, his eyes look almost black as they would in a normal animal.

enjoy, ~Doug

I don't know what the parents are or any info, but are you sure that its not just a lighter colored Lavender and not a Hypo?

Yes, I know the exact lineage of both the parents, as well as their source, and have seen them many times at my friend's house. The parents both have lighter red eyes, and are absolutely stunning. This one just happens to have darker, VERY deep ruby-red eyes as opposed to most others.

And yeah, just as you mentioned, a very light Lavender can look phenotypically identical to the eye to a darker hypo lavender for sure. I've seen many in the past that the person will ask which type his or hers is, and no matter how experienced one might be, it's impossible to say for absolute sure, and is only an educated quess at best without knowing the lineage. Don Soderberg and I where involved with a post like that a good while back, that involved a guy wanting to know which his was,.......we both told him just that, well, it "LOOKS" like a.............LOL!

best regards, ~Doug
