I have an 05' Sunglow 1/8 Surinam from big Mike Basiclly Boas. She is only 4.5 Feet and I have 2 Males ready for her this year. Hypo het albino Motley From Jeff Ronne and a Dh Sunlow for some compition. Should I bump up her feedings? Now she is getting lrg to xl f/t rats every week . Before she was getting one every 2 to 3 weeks. Wanted to raise her slow. Should I wait till next year. She has the age, But not the size very short and stumpy. What do you guys think? Thanks. Markos

I'm not sure what to suggest, are you positive she is a female. Well if she is from Mike then Im sure she has been sexed right.

I have a Female Suriname that is just about 5 feet and I'm only feeding her F/T Medium Rats every 10 days, I wondering if I am under feeding her, but then again she isn't an 05 so she probably isn't as girthy as yours, just longer. She is coming up to 5 pounds now.

You are like the 10th pearson to ask me that in the past three years. I trust Mike, but no I have not got her checked. Him/Her? LOL. Have had her since she was less than 3 months old. Early 05'. I thaught she was gold then. Now Sunglows are everywhere.

It could be the fact that she has some BCc in the mix that she is growing slower (although I think 4.5' for an '05 is a fine growth rate, I have some '06s that are just about to hit the 4' mark).

I would not increase the feedings, 1 lrg or Xlarg every week is about the most I would do (I feed my animals that are over 2 years old every 2 weeks or so). She seems healthy looking and you don't want her to get too overweight.

I would go ahead and try the males when the season is here, see if anything happens. If she is not sexually mature then the males most likely won't show any interest. Just my $0.02.

Oh yes, lots of people have boas that are bigger, I was just trying to give some peace of mind to the original poster that his snake being 'just 4.5' sounded fine too. I got the impression the original poster thought their snake might be too small. (I am a firm believier in slow growth is best for boas.) Boas are all individuals and have different growth rates, even siblings that are fed the same will grow at different rates.

I got her at 3 months of age she is going to be 5 years old. Had her on lrg every 2-3 weeks for the past 2.5 years. She was shedding every 3 - 4 months. Now that I have her on jumbos every week to 10 days she is shedding every 3- 5 weeks. Should I give her a go this year??? All my males are still bigger than her lol. I believe in raising them slow to. When I got her from Big Mike back then she was like gold. Now everyone has thm. Thank God I'm a hobbiest not a breeder.Its been a crazy seven years. Rather be adicted to these guys than anything else. You've been a great help.Now I have my collection and whatever I make i keep. Thanks

Have you tried to breed her? Have any baby pictures? So I shouldn't bump up the feedings to once a week instead of once every 2-3 weeks? She was on that plan for the past two years. Very nice animal by the way!!. Thanks

Thank You, I am going to try this year. I have an 06 albino 50-50 suri. So my fingers are crossed!!!

Got a male very similar, I just picked up From Anthony Hartung, will post pictures later. I'll keep them crossed to! I find that they are a lot larger than the normal albinos. He almost looks like a sunglow. Just a bit bigger than I had thaught. 5-6 feet 12-15lbs. Big Boy!!. Must be the Suri blood. Thanks again. will keep you posted.

I would take the Albino (50-50 Suri) and maybe breed to the best
looking Surinme around?? After your choice breeding is done of
course. Make 75%'rs het Albino.... SICK!! Have a good one Joseph
