San Diego zoo Indian pix?

tom1129 Aug 10, 2009 07:07 PM

Anyone have any photos of the Indian python at San Diego zoo they can share? I have male from a California breeder that the head marking isn't fading like I feel it should. A few photos of the python in San Diego looks something like the one I have and would like to compare.

Thank you for posting nouse4aname. I can see some resemblance between the ones at San Diego and the one I have. But not too much from the ones in photos of Indians off the web taken in India. The triangle on mine isn't fading to much. I no longer feel there is anychance the one I have is pure.

did this male have supralabials in contact with the eyes on both sides of the head?

Hello Kelly,
Yes, his 7th supralabials contact his eyes on both sides. Been unable to get him to hold still long enough for a eye closeup. I realize it is impossible to say for sure if he would be pure, but I had hoped to find a pure male for the female I have from Crutchfield. As she is about 11 years now and I hope to breed her once before she get on in years.
Thanks Tom

I don't have pics of the Indians at the SDZ but I am a California breeder. I have put a handful of them into the hands of retail shops and collectors here in this state over the last couple of years. I am no longer working with Indians but I managed to dig out some pics to demonstrate that there is variability among a clutch of anything. There may be a general appearance assigned to a particular type of snake(or any living creature), but you cannot judge solely on slight differences in pattern or color in most cases(or your personal expectations for that matter).

I do not have a pic of the entire litter but I have pics of an adult pair and about half of their offspring to demonstrate the variability among this one clutch as an example.

I was unable to locate the other half of the baby pics. The first digits should be sequential and if I remember correctly there were 12 babies total. It is still enough to show variability between the parents and the offspring that they throw. Compare the head patterns on numbers 5 and 8. How much they may have changed as they have grown I do not know but I am sure they still look different from one another. I hope this helps.
