What is this????

rudedogsurfrat Sep 15, 2003 10:23 PM

I brought this tadpole from the mountain regions of northern California. It was in a temporary water puddle. It grew legs and lIost it's tail in a matter of 2 days. I thought it was a spadefoot because it fit the description but now I'm not sure.

Most likely (I'm about 90% sure) it's a Great Basin Spadefoot (Scaphiopus intermontanus).

How to get your wife to like toads; 1.Get a male toad. 2.Get him to hug your wifes wrist (amplexus). 3. Tickle him so he chirps in protest. 4.Say "Awww, he likes you". Note; Make sure he pees first or you may receive bodily harm during this procedure.
