I haven't found any information on feeding rabbit kittens to ball pythons. Has anyone tried? What are your opinions on nutritional quality? Will the BPs even eat them?

I ask because earlier this summer we had and probably sometime soon we will have a litter of Eastern Cottontail kittens in a false prairie we've planted. You can't swing a cat without hitting those things in our city and we would like to do our part to thin the population a little.

It sounds like you are talking about wild or semi wild rabbits, I would have to asssume there is some chance of parasites.

Also, balls are picky feeders, I wouldn't wnt to get them started eating something that might not be readily available all of the time.

they have a hunting season with permits and limits and all

they have worms...many species of worms...

....the average lifespan of a wild rabbit is like 4 months....(most get eaten still IN the nest)....they don't need thinning...and cars will thin the rest....sad...

...anyways....don't, ----get domestic rabbits ...they ahve more protein and less fat ...and are good for you to eat also....MMMM./.......

Yeah - you don't ever want to feed anything wild to your balls.

Other than that yeah - people feed rabbits to their balls - but be sure you have a steady lifetime supply because rabbit seems to be one of them feeders they can get stuck on and never want anything else.

I used to feed f/t baby rabbits to some of my adults once in a while. Most wouldnt touch them, some would. None of them ever got stuck on them. Just like the others said, you dont want to feed anything wild to your snakes.

This thread came at the right time. I just got a couple of 2 pound flemmish rex rabbits yesterday to feed my HUGE BCI but she didn't want the other one so now its been turned in to a pet and we thought about breeding her (I fed the male first) . . . Maybe I will feed some baby bunnies to the bigger balls. Im guessing they would need to be F/K because of those big teeth? Or maybe at the pre weened size they don't have much for teeth. . . . .
