Egg Question

livinginvestment Aug 12, 2009 09:56 AM

7 Eggs were laid over 35 days ago. all but 2 turned brown and shriveled up. The remaining two are still white, full and sponge like. I candled them and saw that they were still translucent and no indications of veins. Could infertile eggs last this long without going bad?

Thanks,

Although highly unlikely, it is possible. Some infertile eggs can last through complete incubation cycles without going bad as I had one egg do that to me this year with one of my last clutches. But if you are correctly candling these eggs and seeing no development after 2 weeks, then the chances are slim that they aren't fertile either. But the best advice is to just wait them out until they do go bad as strange things can and do happen and you just never know what those eggs might ultimately do.

Yes its very possible,i have some every year,i wait three days after the eggs are laid then i will candle them,if there are no signs of blood vessels they are almost always infertile.
