Hypo update

Tony D Aug 12, 2009 01:08 PM

After several weeks of tease feeding mouse tails 8 of 12 hypos took f/t pinks on the first attempt. A few more meals and I can sex them.

The camera is fine its the time to use it thats the issue. Also before they are well started I don't like to mess with them too much. Tease feeding is enough stress by itself.

That's too bad,....I hope things are okay, and it's not because of something extremely unfortunate, as was the case last year.

best regards, ~Doug

No its not and the father-in-law pulled through just fine last year. This year its just that I didn't produce enought to warrent going. Still would like to but as "herp" trips go I've been there done that when it comes to Daytona. Looking to save some cabbage and make it out to west TX next spring.

Nice Tony. Good for you. I've got a small group of 09 coastals that I've been doing tails for several weeks as well. So far they've not shown interest in pink heads.

Looking forward to some pics.

Dave I tease feed till they've had their second shed. That seems to be the ticket for me.

You sure produce some beautiful animals. I agree 100% on the 2nd shed and increased feeding response observation, too. I notice a HUGE difference after the second shed. A small percentage of my neonates will feed right after their first shed, but the majority wait 'till after that second ecdysis to fire up.
