hi! I'm just setting up the new cage for my Tegu (2.5x 6.5) and I have been reading a lot of debates about substrate. When I bought her from LLLReptile, I brought her home in a tank with a type of finely chiped pine shaving. Can pine shavings still be used as adults or is cypress mulch (which I couldn't find at home depot) better? Or how about those small bark chips? Thanks for the help!

Ground coconut fiber. It's what Bert suggests on his site http://www.agamainternational.com/merianae_housing.shtml
After what Russ said about hearing that peat moss could be a potential problem I'm going to give it a shot. I just got some today and it's just like peat moss anyways but it dosn't hold quite as much water. Bert's site also says it's not prone to mildew or mold.
