Update, if anyone cares

blazeyoungblood Sep 15, 2003 11:01 PM

As i've been posting, I'm a first time leo breeder. I've gotten six eggs over the last week. I found today that four of the six are fertile, which I am obviously pleased about. The infertile ones started to dent in a little bit, so I removed them from incubation. It's only been a few days, waiting for them to hatch is going to be rough. This weekend, I picked up a Crested Gecko and a red eyed tree frog. The crested is a bright orange with a yellow stripe down it's back and big blue eyes, very beautiful animal. Wish me luck with my babies!

Are you sure those eggs are infertile? I'm not chiding you - just letting you know that I incubate everything until their's "fur" on it (LOL). You never know. I've heard some pretty amazing stories about eggs - so don't give up.

Sounds like you are going to have a fun fall.

Good luck.

I didn't toss the eggs, I just separated them into another pan to avoid spreading mold should they spoil soon. I'm not too experienced, and any tips or help you or anyone could give me would be awesome. I don't take anything to heart They are definately more on the yellow side when candled, and look like there is absolutely nothing in them. The shells also darkened to a tanish color as the other four are still quite white. The tanish ones did get larger than the other two though, but I see red veins and a little pink circular embryo in the white ones. I'm not giving up hope, the only two potentially infertile ones were my absolute first eggs as an attempted gecko breeder, conveniently from the first leo I ever got too. So they have a little soft spot in my heart for them, Hopefully there will be a cool little breakthrough. Only time will tell.

Thats good to hear.

I lost my 1st clutch of two eggs as well. I was pretty sad. But I'm glad to say I've managed to hatch quite a few little babys this year and all are now in new homes.
