That's a shame. He was a guy I really wanted to meet someday. So many of us read his forum posts and enjoyed his pictures over the years.

RIP Jim.

His son sent out an email on a mailing list he and I were both on.

It's a kick in the nuts. Jim's a good guy and has answered many of my questions while I was thinking of getting a retic.

I have only know Jim Gaspar for about 5 years but I did conceder him a very good friend and I am going to miss talking to him very much. Jim was the kind of guy that would give the shirt of his back to help a friend out. He was so passionate with the care and breeding of his beloved retics they where like family to him. It's nice to know his son Jason is the same way with retics so Jims retic legacy will continue on for many years. In life you meet lots of people but only a few make an impact on you that last forever and Jim was one of those people in my life. I know Jim is in a better place now and feels no more pain and he is up there looking down at the people he loves and watching over them. My condolences to his wife and all of his kids. I know how you feel and it will get better with time. All the good memories of Jim will stay with you for life. Sometimes you will even feel he is right next to you when you need him, I know my father is around when I need him.
Take care Jason and make sure you call me when you need help moving the retics.

Good by my friend for now but we will meet again someday. God speed Jim

Take care

I was not close to jim but he seemed like a amazing guy, I talked to him a few times at a few shows about retics and was ALWAYS more than happy to answer any and all questions with a smile on his face doing so.
Such a sad thing to hear

My condolences go out to his family and friends.

I just heard today that Jim passed away. Sad day for me. Jim was a great guy and a wonderful herper. A true loss to the hobby.
